Gray Catbird

A secretive bird that the Chippewa Indians named Bird That Cries With Grief due to its raspy call. The call sounds like the mewing of a house cat. Frequently mimics other birds, rarely repeating the same phrases. More often heard than seen. Nests in thick shrubs and quickly flies back into shrubs if approached.

Occupying Pennsylvania only in the summer, the Gray Catbird does a complete migrate to the southern states.
